Dancin’ Unlimited (www.dujdc.org), founded in 1973, is a professional jazz dance company whose goal is to promote, produce, and perform quality jazz dance. Under the artistic direction of Marilyn York, the company focuses on theatrical jazz dance concerts with emphasis on technical excellence in dance, variety and professionalism. All of the dancers are seasoned performers with extensive classical dance training and performance experience. Dancin’ Unlimited’s repertoire ranges from classical to contemporary jazz dance and from the Big Band era to Broadway dance. The company performs at corporate events, conventions, trade shows, fairs, festivals, schools, and many other special venues. Dancin’ Unlimited proudly produces and performs in the annual Jazz and Tap Dance Festival as part of its commitment of bringing the art of jazz dance to the Washington DC metropolitan area. In 2010, the Jazz and Tap Dance Festival will celebrate its 24th consecutive season.
Impulse is a youth jazz dance ensemble founded in 2007. The group was created to provide a professional performance-based ensemble for talented dancers in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area.
MetroTAP, under the artistic direction of Katie Padgett was born out of collaboration between David Covington and faculty of Metropolitan Fine Arts Center. MetroTAP's mission is to preserve and promote the traditional American art form of rhythm tap in addition to exploring new avenues for the future of tap dance, with emphasis on emotion, innovative choreography, and finely tuned dance moves. MetroTAP's credits include Lincoln Center, The Kennedy Center, The Ernst Cultural Center, and the Jack Guidone Theater.
Under the Artistic Direction of Katie Padgett and managed by Nick King, the Metropolitan Youth Tap Ensemble (MYTE) is a youth tap dance ensemble comprised of a group of highly motivated and talented tap dancers from the Metropolitan Washington, D.C. Area.
MYTE has had the pleasure of working with with Chloe Arnold, Lane Alexander, Josh Hilberman, Barbara Duffy, Josh Hilberman, Nancy Newell, Jason Janas, Dormeshia Sumbrey-Edwards, and Vikki Weinberger. In only its second year, MYTE's credits include: the National Cherry Blossom Festival, the CBS Early Show, The Ellington Theatre, The Jack Guidone Theater, LEGacy: A Tribute Concert to Jimmy Slyde & Lavaughn Robinson, National Tap Dance Day at Baltimore's Inner Harbor, Ganz Hall in Chicago, Illinois, Metropolitan Performing Arts Alliance's "Fall Into the Arts Banquet" and 2009 Benefit Concert, as well as the annual MFAC Holiday Showcase. MYTE has also performed at Wolf Trap, and at the 1st annual Frostival! MYTE prides itself in sharing tap dance with audiences throughout the DC Metro Area. Metropolitan Performing Arts Theatre is a branch of the Metropolitan Perfroming Arts Alliance, founded in 2006. MPAT enables performers of all ages and walks of life to come together to create amazing performances that inspire, enrich and educate audiences in the Washington D.C. area. We challenge our volunteer artists to grow by providing extraordinary performance opportunities supported by experienced coaching and direction. We look to enrich the community by creating a welcoming, friendly, and stimulating environment that encourages people with different talents and interests to come together and celebrate the experience of creating live theater.
